CREAM THE CONCEPT Cream was formed in October 1992 and in five years has become the greatest Club of its kind in Europe. Originally attracting 400 young people from the Liverpool area, now over 3000 people travel from all corners of the UK to attend a Club, which represents a way of life, as opposed to being just a source of entertainment. The huge success of Cream is down to many factors. The most prominent being the people behind the original concept, James Barton and Darren Hughes. THE DIRECTOR James Barton is 31 years old. He has been a DJ and Club Promoter since he was a teenager. James has recently returned to Cream as joint M.D. Having recently resigned as head of A & R for London based Deconstruction Records. The move is due to the unprecedented opportunity for growth taking place within the company. James’s first task will be to set up the new Cream Office in London. Born in Liverpool he remains a committed Liverphile and has recently been made an Ambassador of the City. |

SETTING NEW STANDARDS OF SAFETY
Cream is committed to providing the safest possible environment for its customers. To achieve this we have worked in partnership with; Liverpool City Council, Merseyside Police, Merseyside Fire Brigade, Merseyside Health Authority, The Royal Liverpool Hospital and Lifeline. Together over a two-year period we have developed fundamental policies and operational guidelines, which set new standards in Club safety. URBAN REGENERATION Cream employs 30 full time and 70 part time staff. Cream also supports a number of small to medium sized cultural businesses. Liverpool City Council and Merseyside Tourist Board recognize Cream as having played an important role in the economic regeneration of Liverpool City Centre. A whole section of Liverpool City Centre, which was once desolate, is now a thriving cultural quarter, packed with Restaurants, Bars, Artists studios and Cafes. The majority of these enterprises acknowledge that their business success is directly linked to the activity generated by Cream. In 1996 John Moores University carried out a survey, which indicated that 70% of all new students chose to study in Liverpool so that they could attend Cream.![]() |
